Adventure/Comedy : Under 100 words

We must escape.

But how? I think it’s our fate to be trodden by him.

And live in these stinking holes?

Least he could do is to let us bath every day. We are nothing but disposable slaves for him.

Bath, you say! I think that is the only time we can escape. The time when we are pushed from washing chambers

I am scared. errrrr, it’s not so bad here.

Ok. You stay here. I won’t!

A few days later

“Honey! Have you seen my other blue sock? I can find just half the pair.”

Hi Chhaya,
Welcome back on your blog!
Now I know why some of my "half the pairs" go missing.
I like the choice of fonts.

Whats In A Name March 3, 2010 at 12:23 PM

My socks hate me !!!! I sweat so much !!! :-P

Karthik March 3, 2010 at 1:20 PM

Ha ha!! Stinking sock escapes! :D
I wonder, in stead of escaping, why didn't they wash themselves? The owner would've been so happy - like me. :P
Very well executed. :)

itsyvitsy March 3, 2010 at 6:55 PM

First of all, welcome back to blogging. :-) This blog really needed to be revived (may be that is too much ;-)). But the return to blogging with a hilarious post is most pleasant. I had a hearty laugh. The hints are there to see but I was left scratching my head wondering what is she trying to say or where is this leading (of course, with a short-short one doesn't have to wait long). Hints such as, trodden by him, stinking holes, disposable slaves. Mastering the genres, are we? :-D

Eon Heath March 3, 2010 at 10:22 PM

like everyone, welcome back...

dont know what to say, something "funny" coming from YOU!! liked it...nice 'cute' one...

Regards,
A friend...

I enjoyed the twist you had at the end! Indeed, the shower is the only time we get to be ourselves, to be imaginative and have personal space to think.

MADHU RAO | (INDImag.COM) March 6, 2010 at 11:46 AM

The stinky missing sock ! Someone had a patent to cure the post laundry missing sock syndrome (3 sock packs instead of pairs) on America's Best Inventors series ; he did not get the 1 million :-)

Hey, read you like short stories. Here's something that may interest you ..

We have a story writing contest and would love to see you participate. Below are the details :

INDImag’s Katha Sagar Contest. USD $150/- in Prizes

www.INDImag.com

Stories have a way of connecting people and touching their hearts. Like a good cup of coffee, a thriller can stimulates one’s senses and linger on far after enjoying it, while at the diametric opposite end of the spectrum, a story that your grandmother narrated to you as a kid, soothed you to sleep and filled you with sweet dreams.

Stories, like clay, provide an endless medium of possibilities limited only by the author’s imagination. We want to unleash a sea of these stories. Hence Katha Sagar..
